Announcement on Hosting the 2nd Medical Equipment Innovation Competition - Central & Eastern European Countries Medical Equipment Innovation and Technology Transfer Competition
In alignment with China's innovation-driven development strategy and to foster deeper integration of technological and industrial innovation in the medical equipment sector, the China Association of Medical Equipment is proud to organize the 2nd Medical Equipment Innovation Competition.
Guided by the strategic principles of “advancing global scientific frontiers, serving economic priorities, addressing national critical needs, and safeguarding public health”, this competition aims to build a collaborative innovation ecosystem integrating industry, academia, research, and clinical practice, enhance technology transfer efficiency and stimulate innovation vitality across the medical equipment industry. The event provides a platform for medical enterprises, healthcare institutions, and research organizations to jointly identify industry-driven scientific challenges, conduct collaborative research and development, cultivate technical talent and accelerate emerging and future industry development. The International Cooperation Committee of the China Association of Medical Equipment, Shanghai University of Medicine & Health Sciences, China Yangtze River Delta-Balkan Peninsula Biomedical International Technology Transfer Collaborative Innovation Center and Shanghai Collaborative Innovation Center for Intelligent Medical Devices and Active Health serve as the hosting organizations for the 2nd Medical Equipment Innovation Competition - Central & Eastern European Countries Medical Equipment Innovation & Technology Transfer Competition. Focusing on international technology transfer and cooperation in the medical equipment field, we promote cross-border innovation resource alignment to enhance the commercialization efficiency of medical equipment achievements. By strengthening clinical demand-driven innovation in health management equipment and extending medical technologies throughout the full cycle of healthcare services, we provide crucial support for safeguarding public health and advancing the development of healthcare systems.
The Central & Eastern European Countries Medical Equipment Innovation and Technology Transfer Competition is organized with the mission to drive innovation and commercialization of health management equipment through clinically-driven solutions. The competition identifies and highlights breakthrough medical equipment technologies with potential for large-scale application, supporting the establishment of a comprehensive “prevention-diagnosis-treatment-rehabilitation-care” health service system. This initiative aims to enhance the overall competitiveness of the health management equipment sector, strengthen public health protection, and advance healthcare system development. It injects new momentum into the global medical equipment industry by pioneering international collaborative innovation models that facilitate “going global" and "bringing in” strategies for enterprises. By serving China’s national priorities in medical equipment internationalization, the competition fosters an open, cooperative industry ecosystem. It promotes higher-quality industrial development through elevated international cooperation, contributing China's expertise and solutions to building a global community of health for all.

II. Competition Process
1. Registration & Qualification Review
(1) Registration Period: All projects must register via email by May 10, 2025.
(2) Eligibility Review: The Health Management Equipment & Technology Branch of China Association of Medical Equipment will review all submissions. Qualified projects advance to the preliminary round. Any concealment or falsification of information will result in disqualification from the competition.
2. Preliminary Round
The preliminary round will be conducted through a written evaluation process. The Health Management Equipment and Technology Branch of the China Association of Medical Equipment will convene a panel of experts from clinical medicine, health management, and smart medical device fields to collectively assess all qualifying projects. Based on the comprehensive scoring by the judging panel, top-ranked projects will advance to the semifinals.
3. Semifinals
The semifinals will be conducted through live project presentations (roadshows). The Health Management Equipment and Technology Branch of the China Association of Medical Equipment, in collaboration with the Association, will form a judging panel comprising clinical medicine experts, health management specialists, smart medical device professionals, policy advisors, technical evaluators, investment institution representatives. Final competition rankings will be determined based on the panel's comprehensive evaluation scores.
III. Evaluation Criteria
Projects will be comprehensively assessed based on the following dimensions: innovativeness, practicality, market potential and team competence.
IV. Eligibility Criteria & Requirements
1. Enterprise Group Eligibility
(1) Enterprises registered domestically that comply with China's Standards for Classification of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, and eligible enterprises registered in Central and Eastern European countries. Teams must register as entities with ≤7 core members.
(2) Submitted projects must fall within the medical equipment field, demonstrating innovativeness, practical applicability, and market potential.
(3) Must possess independent intellectual property rights with no ownership disputes.
(4) Must have a clean compliance record.
2. Maker Group Eligibility
(1) Law-abiding individuals or research institution teams may participate, with no individual permitted to serve as core member for multiple teams. Core team members shall not exceed 7 persons.
(2) The project's concept, product, technology and related IP must belong to core team members without disputes with other entities.
(3) Enterprise teams or corporate innovation projects are ineligible.
(4) Cross-institutional teams with China and Central and Eastern European universities are encouraged.
(5) Cross-institutional teams jointly formed with medical institutions from China and Central and Eastern European countries are encouraged.
3. General Requirements
(1) Duplicate/overlapping projects from the same entity across sub-competitions are prohibited.
(2) Entities/individuals on credit blacklists are ineligible.
(3) Participants found plagiarizing others' work or committing fraud will be disqualified.
V. Award Structure
Based on the number of registered projects, the competition will present multiple First, Second, and Third Prizes in both the Enterprise Group and Maker Group categories.
VI. Incentive Policies
1. Project Promotion
Award-winning projects will be featured on the official website of the China Association of Medical Equipment with dedicated showcase pages highlighting project overviews, innovative features, and team profiles. Additionally, during the annual conference and exhibition organized by the Association, a special exhibition zone will be allocated for award-winning projects to demonstrate their achievements through various formats, including physical displays, multimedia presentations, and live demonstrations.
2. Investment & Financing Matching
Award-winning projects will be recommended to government investment funds, venture capital institutions, and banks, with both online and offline matching events organized to facilitate industry-finance integration. Tailored financing solutions will be provided based on the developmental stages of winning enterprises: early-stage startups will be prioritized for angel investments and entrepreneurial guaranteed loans, while growth-stage enterprises will receive assistance in connecting with venture capital and industrial funds to accelerate business expansion.
3. Park Landing Support:
Award-winning projects will be settled in the Acceleration Center of China Association of Medical Equipment, which will leverage the Association’s resources to establish an international industry-academia-research collaboration platform. This includes organizing technology exchange activities between Chinese and Central & Eastern European medical institutions, universities, and research organizations to accelerate technological upgrading of projects. Additionally, the Center will arrange industrial matchmaking visits to development zones and industrial parks, where projects can access the latest entrepreneurship support policies and incubation services to fast-track industrialization.
4. Technology Transfer Matching
Award-winning projects will be prioritized for participation in cutting-edge research initiatives organized by government ministries, gaining access to leading industry research resources and policy insights. A dedicated technology transfer service platform will be established to consolidate resources from research institutions, enterprises, and investment organizations, providing comprehensive support spanning technical evaluation, patent applications, market promotion, and industrial implementation. Regular technology transfer matchmaking sessions will connect winning projects with enterprises possessing technical needs for on-site collaboration discussions.
5. Talent Empowerment
Competing teams will receive one-on-one mentorship from entrepreneurial advisors, including clinical experts, industry specialists, entrepreneurs, and university professors, to refine business plans, tackle technical challenges, and expand market channels.
